Winter 2013

Picture
Winter conjures up many images; snow, icicles, long shadows, and animals hibernating...this aptly characterizes many places come winter, but not Southern California. Winter in SOCal has the freshness and newness of spring. Little green shoots bursting forth everywhere, awakening from the compact, dry soil when the first rain falls upon the parched hills.

There is so much to explore in the Santa Monica Mountains this time of year. The chaparral plants are bursting forth with new green leaves, the animals are happily foraging the new bounty. The birds are singing with delight. It is a wonderful time to step out into the winter wonder and deepen our connections with the natural world .

Join Keepers of the Earth for a winter adventure.

Magical purple mama & baby mushroom.
